Gospellightz,

Thank you for your comments but Fred is NOT a procrastinator. That is attack some are using to get at him. You can NOT be a successful lawyer, lobbyist and win two terms in the U.S. Senate with over 60% of the vote and be laze or a procrastinator.

Sorry, but I have watched the interviews with Hannity and others with Fred and he is VERY decisive. He sounds more blunt than all of the other 11 GOP candidates combined.

As far as the abortion issue Fred Thompsons did NOT run as pro-choice in 95. His voting record shows that he voted the following way:

1. Voted YES on Ban on Partial Birth Abortion;

2. Voted YES to Ban abortions on U.S. Military bases;

3. Voted YES on Ban on human cloning;

Votes (i.e. Actions speak louder than words)

Recieved a rank of 77 out of 100 from Right to Life while in the Senate.

He is pro-life. He may not be 100% but we can't ruin a good candidate just because of one issue. In his Hannity interview, Thompson said that Roe v. Wade was unconstitutional, which it is, and the issue should go back to the states. This is what will happen when the Court overturns Roe v. Wade. It doesn't get outlawed, it goes back to the states. This shows a great respect for states rights and federalism which both Goldwater and Reagan fought for.

Romney is a good guy but his support of socialism via healthcare is very disturbing. Thanks to his 'reform' in Massachusetts businesses are giving up their own healthcare forcing workers to join up on Romney's socialized plan which is already double what he said it would cost and rising. He just grew the size of big/liberal government in Mass as well as he ignored the legacy of Reagan and Goldwater to keep government limited.

I appreciate your views Gospellightz very much. I thank you for having the courage to comment and share. If Romney does end up the nominee I will fight hard to get him elected. I hope you will do the same if Thompson gets the nomination. Thompson is ahead in South Carolina and he is ahead or tied with Rudy for first according to the Rassmuessen poll :)

Please comment anytime,

Fred Thompson is a nice guy but not presidential material...maybe about 15 yrs ago. He comes across as too much of a procrastinator, too lethargic and indecisive/unreliable.

Too, when Thompson ran for the Senate in 1995 he declared he was pro-CHOICE and believe that abortion was all right within the first trimester. When did he become pro-LIFE? I don't know but when questioned recently if he was formerly pro-choice, he developed amnesia and said, "I don't know where that came from." This is very disengenuous of him. There is a video of Fred stating his pro-choice stance. I will give Fred credit for always siding on the side of 'life' (as did Romney) as a Senator. Both he and Mitt made the right change over to Life but I prefer Romney as a strong, committed, diligent and wise leader over anyone else in both parties.

Junkyard,

Ah yes. Here comes the rabid left-wing with their 'actors can't be trusted' attacked. I was reminded of how Ronald Reagan was demonized when he ran for California Governor in 1966 and President in 1980 for being an actor and how you 'can never trust them.'

You leftists tried to use the actor angle to say that Reagan wasn't tough or couldn't be tough. You are pathetic.

Ronald Reagan and John Wayne were tough even though they played tough guy actors because they believed in values of our Republic and in what they acted out on the screen.

The current wave of left-wing, or from other GOP camp, attacks is just more evidence of how scared y'all must be of Fred Thompson.

"From 1975 to 1992 Thompson was a lobbyist for corporations such as Westinghouse and General Electric, and most notoriously, the Tennessee Savings and Loan League."

So what! I love how you on the left love to label anything having to do with business evil. Business is NOT the enemy. More harm has been done by do-gooder activists and government politicians/bureaucrats than business.

"And in 1982, Thompson was vigorously lobbying for legislation to deregulate the Savings and Loan industry although he knew it could destroy the foundations of the institution. The deregulation that ensued gave the thrifts the freedom to invest in risky speculations and gamble away the savings of U.S. consumers."

Ah yes.....repealing government red tape and bureaucracy is so 'bad' to you on the left.

"John Kenneth Galbraith called the Savings and Loan Scandal, “the largest and costliest venture in public misfeasance, malfeasance, and larceny of all time.”"

John Kenneth Galbraith can shove it. I don't care what he thinks.

The actor attack fails because Reagan proved it useless.

The lobbyist for business attack fails because it only shows your left-wing, marxist radicalism.

The loan attack fails because Fred was never involved in the few that went bad.

Sorry Junkyard....but no cigar :)

There is nothing tough or folksy about Fred Thompson. He is but an actor—a con man—who has spent years honing both his tough-guy and down-home demeanor to fool the public. Thompson is the ultimate faker—a flimflammer with a red pickup truck that is being brought out by the GOP for his next scam on the political stage.

Here’s what the mainstream media won't tell you about Snake Oil: He’s spent a good part of his political career in craven endeavors. From 1975 to 1992 Thompson was a lobbyist for corporations such as Westinghouse and General Electric, and most notoriously, the Tennessee Savings and Loan League.

Actors make good con men and con men make good actors. And in 1982, Thompson was vigorously lobbying for legislation to deregulate the Savings and Loan industry although he knew it could destroy the foundations of the institution. The deregulation that ensued gave the thrifts the freedom to invest in risky speculations and gamble away the savings of U.S. consumers.

The Savings and Loan debacle was the crowning moment of the Bush Oligarchy. Over one thousand thrift institutions collapsed and hundreds of thousands of Americans lost their life savings. The ultimate cost of the crisis was $150 billion and George H.W. Bush bailed out the thrifts to the tune of $125 billion, which contributed greatly to the largest budget deficits this country had ever seen to that point. These deficits heralded the 1990-91 recession, one of the lowest points of our nation’s economic viability since the Great Depression.
