NM Congressmen Vote AGAINST Gun Rights & Lex Luther Asks For Bailout (Funny Video)

Let’s get to the issues that fire me up and deplete the blogsphere.

Once again, our new Democratic congressional delegation has shown it’s true left-wing colors when they voted on a special motion to approve a wilderness bill under special rules that limited amendments so Republicans couldn’t add a pro-gun rights amendment to the bill.

Senate Resolution 22 sets aside more than 2 million acres in nine different states as ‘protected wilderness’ areas. Republicans wanted to add an amendment to the bill allowing American citizens to carry loaded firearms in national parks. Democrats attempted to bypass having to take a stand on a gun rights issue that they brought the bill up under a special rule that severely restricts the opportunity for members to add amendments.

Republicans were able to defeat the bill by a vote of 282 in favor and 144 against because under the special rule it needed a 2/3rds majority to pass.

Why do the Democrats not want law abiding citizens to be able to have loaded firearms in our national parks? Didn’t a lot of Democrats win their seats in 2008 by campaigning as ‘pro-gun Democrats’? Well, here in New Mexico, Martin Heinrich, Harry Teague and Ben Lujan Jr. all campaigned as ’pro-gun Democrats’, yet, once their left-wing leadership said ‘NO’ to a pro-gun rights amendment our state congressional delegation changed their stripes on gun rights.

So, just remember during the next election in 2010 the following:

FIRST GUN RIGHTS VOTE OF CONGRESS IN 2009

Congressman Martin Heinrich, CD 1 - VOTED AGAINST GUN RIGHTS.

Congressman Harry Teague, CD 2 – VOTED AGAINST GUN RIGHTS.

Congressman Ben Lujan Jr., CD 3 – VOTED AGAINST GUN RIGHTS.

The most telling quote came from Mr. Mike Matz, executive director of the left-wing environmentalist organization Campaign for America’s Wilderness, in which he stated, “Democratic leaders are afraid of any motion on guns, frankly.”

Not only did our Congressmen vote AGAINST gun rights, they also voted for a wilderness bill that would cost up to $10 billion in more government spending and would also block oil and gas development on millions of acres of federal property. Republican Congressman Doc Hastings, R-Washington, even denounced the bill as a “monster piece of legislation that would criminalize collecting rocks on federal land, among other problems”.

Finally, to end today’s post on a humorous note. I have posted a short video below that show’s Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luther asking for a federal bailout. Enjoy the short video and have a good laugh.
